this morning. He will remain several days. The Masons give
him a formal reception to-morrow evening, afterwhich a banquet
will be served.
There will be a meeting at the court house to-night for the
purpose of organizing a land league and a number of prominent
speakers are billed for the occasion and an interesting time
is expected.
Marshall, November 4-A large crowd of our best citizens met
at the courthouse last night. Gen. W.P. Lane was called to
the chair and explained that the object of the meeting was
to organize a land league in this city. Dr. C.H. McGill was
elected secretary and treasurer. Hon. W.T.S. Keller, Maj.
W.M. Stedman and others made appropriate speeches that were
warmly and enthusiastically applauded. About forty names were
enrolled as members, and a committee appointed on permanent
organization. The club meets again next Thursday.
