Who are the people from Chalybeate Springs and what is that word?  Joe Edward "Curly" Jones told me all about it.  His family lived on the old Governor Runnels place.   "Chalybeate" sounds like "klee-bit" and it means water with a high content of iron salts.  Other families besides the Jones were Thompsons, Gartons, Sanders, and Collins.

The community ceased to exist when the government bought the land in 1941 and moved these families out.  At one time they had a church and a school and a store.  Now it is Area E and somewhere on Road 13 in the Red River Arsenal.
