C H "Scooter" Ruggs Obituary

C.H. "Scooter" Ruggs, 78, of Maud, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 
2004, in a local hospital.

Mr. Ruggs was born May 3, 1926, in Start, La. He was retired from 
Darr Equipment Co. and a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and 
a World War II Navy veteran and an Air Force veteran. Survivors 
include his wife, Beverly Hairston Ruggs of Maud; one daughter and 
son-in-law, Cheryl and Mark Mapston of Uvalde, Texas; one son and 
daughter-in-law, Michael and Becky Ruggs of Maud; one brother, 
Bill Wynn of Monroe, La.; one sister, Barbara Powell of Rayville, 
La.; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services 
will be 4 p.m. today at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. 
Ben Smith and George Otwell officiating. Burial with military rites 
will be in Center Ridge Cemetery under direction of Chapelwood 
Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Rock Creek Baptist Church, 
4341 FM 2149 Maud, Texas, 75567. The family will be at their home
