Birthday Dinner
Wolfe City, June 30th
The children, grandchildren and relatives and friends of Mr. L.C. Rodham,
formerly of this place, with a birthday dinner at his home in Rains county,
near Emory, last Monday June 22nd, same being his 65th birthday. They all gathered
at 10 o’clock with well filled baskets. Mr. Rodham, returning from Emory
a little latter, was surprised at the gathering, some of whom he had not seen
in several years. At noon dinner was spread out on tables under a large shad
tree. Dinner was announced and Mr. Rodham, leading to the dining room, found
nothing there. He was then led out into the yard where he found the table groaning
under the load of chicken, salads, cakes, pies and other things too numerous
to mention, of which he had a greater surprise than when the crowd gathered.
Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Brown and son, J.W.; Mr. and Mrs. J.J.
Rodham; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rodham; Mrs. L.D. Freeman and children, Alice Andra
and Marley, Wolfe City; Mr. and Mrs. Rubert White, Bailey; Mrs. Elmer Nutt and
children, Greenville; Mrs. Claud Willis and son, Royse City; Mrs. Gene Evans
and son, Alba; Mrs. Annie McCord and little Miss Minnie Margurett and Dorris
