MEXICAN - AMERICAN WAR
1847
This war engaged about 100,000 U.S. troops from all states of the Union with the largest number coming from Texas. The outcome of the war resulted in the addition of most of the Southwest to the United States, as well s finally establishing the Rio Grande River as Texas' southern border.
HARRIS, John L., died about 1881 in Point, Rains Co., Texas
(It is said that he liked what he saw when he came through Texas while serving
in
the war and so he moved to Texas after the war from Illinois.)
